Bernadette Peters is an American actress and singer celebrated for a six-decade career on Broadway, in film, television, concert and recording. She originated major roles in landmark musicals (including Sunday in the Park with George and Into the Woods) and is widely regarded as a leading interpreter of Stephen Sondheim's work. Peters has won two competitive Tony Awards (plus the honorary Isabelle Stevenson Award in 2012) and co-founded the Broadway Barks animal-adoption charity.
