Formed in 1976 by guitarist Issei Noro and bassist Tetsuo Sakurai, Casiopea made their major-label debut with a self-titled album on May 25, 1979 and became a prominent instrumental group through the 1980s. The band’s classic lineup included keyboardist Minoru Mukaiya and drummer Akira Jimbo, and Casiopea has gone through several lineup changes while continuing to record and tour internationally. They recorded with notable international session players, have issued numerous albums and remain active via official releases and tours.
