David Louis Newman (born March 11, 1954) is an American composer and conductor who has written music for nearly 100 films and received an Academy Award nomination for his score to Anastasia (1997). He is the son of composer Alfred Newman and has conducted major orchestras including the Los Angeles Philharmonic and the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra. Newman has also served as president of The Film Music Society and is active as a concert conductor and film-music curator.
