Formed in the early 1980s by identical twins Jay and Michael Aston, Gene Loves Jezebel built a strong following through the decade and crossed over to wider attention with their 1986 album Discover. Internal disputes led to two touring versions of the band led separately by Jay and Michael in later years. The group has remained active intermittently, releasing new material and touring into the 2020s.
