About
The Hollywood Bowl Orchestra is a symphony/pop orchestra managed by the Los Angeles Philharmonic Association and established in 1990; John Mauceri led the ensemble from its founding until 2006. The orchestra gave its first public concerts at the Hollywood Bowl on July 2–4, 1991, signed a multi-album recording contract (with Philips), and has presented a wide range of repertoire from film scores and Broadway to concert hall works. It draws roughly 80–100 freelance musicians from the Southern California recording and orchestral community and regularly performs at the Hollywood Bowl and on tour.
