James Willis 'Bau' Graves was an American musician, musicologist, and arts activist who co-founded the Center for Cultural Exchange in Portland, Maine. He served as Artistic/Executive Director at the Jefferson Center and later as Executive Director of the Old Town School of Folk Music, and authored Cultural Democracy: The Arts, Community, and the Public Purpose (2005). Graves retired from the Old Town School in early 2019 and died September 24, 2025.
