Born Keith Smith in Westmoreland and raised in Kingston, Keith Poppin began recording in the late 1960s and had several Jamaican/UK charting singles in the 1970s such as "Envious" and "Same Thing for Breakfast." He recorded early sessions at Studio One, later moved to the United States in the early 1990s and continues to record and tour, releasing recent singles and albums including One More River to Cross and Tear Down the Gate. His early 1968 Studio One recordings were reissued on limited-edition vinyl and he has received lifetime recognition for his contributions to Jamaican music.
