Peter Sellars is an American theatre and opera director known for inventive, contemporary stagings of classical works and for commissioning new pieces. He is a MacArthur Fellow and a distinguished professor at UCLA, and has received major honors including the Erasmus Prize, the Dorothy and Lillian Gish Prize, and the Polar Music Prize. His productions and festivals have premiered at leading opera houses and international festivals worldwide.
