Primer 55 formed in 1997 and signed to Island Records, releasing their major-label debut Introduction to Mayhem on January 25, 2000. Their follow-up (The) New Release arrived in 2001 (reaching No. 1 on Billboard's Heatseekers and No. 102 on the Billboard 200), they performed on Ozzfest 2000, have undergone multiple hiatuses, and announced a reunion in June 2025.
