Formed in 1979 by producer Sylvia Robinson for her Sugar Hill label, The Sugarhill Gang scored a global breakthrough with the single "Rapper's Delight," one of the first rap records to enter the pop Top 40. The group's original lineup included Wonder Mike, Master Gee and Big Bank Hank; their recording helped bring hip?hop from local parties to mainstream international audiences. They have continued to perform in various lineups and celebrated the 40th anniversary of "Rapper's Delight" with a worldwide tour in 2019.
