Psychedelic cumbia fusion band Tropa Magica boasts the blessing of Los Tigres Del Norte and a “troop” of “magical” sounds. The band's founders — brothers David (guitar, vocals) and Rene Pacheco (drums, vocals) — hail from East L.A., and aim to expand on the sounds of their heroes, like Los Lobos and Los Tigres, with far-out tropical rhythms and elements of psych-rock, cumbia, stoner rock, Bossa nova, grunge, surf and even sprinklings of disco here and there .
